Music
Choristers
Messiah’s Choristers meet on Thursday evenings at 7:00 pm in the Choir room. They share their talents during many Sunday services.
Consider joining – new members are always welcome!
Worship Accompanists
We have a great team of organists/pianists who share in accompanying our worship services each week, and they organize many other musicians to share their gifts in worship.
Do you have a musical gift you want to share?
Our worship has also included guitar, ukulele, percussion, brass, and strings. Email us: music@messiahcamrose.ca
Handbells
Messiah’s Handbell Choir meets on Thursdays at 10:30 am in the choir room to practice. Messiah has a 3 octave set of Malmark handbells and 3 octave set of hand chimes. A basic knowledge of music is necessary to play with this group. There are always openings for people who would like to be a substitute with the option of moving into a position in the group as openings occur. For information contact the office.

Sunday School and Youth
Sunday School for Age 3 to Grade 6 meets during the Sunday service. Children first join their parents in the sanctuary and then following Children’s Time go to their classes.
Sunday School is usually held every Sunday of the month (except long weekends) from September through the end of May – we begin in the Sanctuary at 10:30 am. Check out our Facebook page for updates to our schedule, or to message us questions.
We welcome all children age 3 to grade 6, whether they can attend often, occasionally, or are popping in for a one-time visit. Come join us for a time of fun learning, games, crafts, songs, videos, Bible stories, and snacks!
Study
Adult Class
Adult Class meets Sunday mornings from 9:15-10:15 in the basement auditorium. The classes include a variety of topics.
Lectio
Lectio Divina (meditation on the word) is an opportunity to sit quietly to open the heart to hear the Word sharing together how this Word reaches into your hearts and souls. Gather with us in the lounge every Monday morning at 10:30 am. You may come and go as your schedule allow. All are welcome.
Women’s Circles
The primary focus for the Women’s Circles is Bible Study. There are 5 groups who meet monthly in member’s homes or on zoom.
The circles also maintain a prayer chain, and gather together for fellowship events a couple of times a year. Contact the office to find out more.
Friendship Class
In the beginning…about 30 years ago, a very special and innovative class was born! It began as a Sunday School class and evolved into…The Friendship Class!
It all began with Mrs. Morck (a member of our congregation) who had a burning desire for a class in Christian education that would be suitable for her son Robert and other people with special needs. In Camrose there was no class, so out of her vision they asked Jim Winters in to teach and the class was born.
It began with three or four students in a small dark Sunday School room with one teacher, and today we usually have around half a dozen, and small group of volunteers that teach and assist each week. We also have room to accommodate the drivers who bring them.
This class meets Sunday mornings from 9:45 am to 10:15 am in a room near the basement auditorium.
Men’s Bible Study
The Men’s Bible Study group meets Saturday mornings on zoom. Consider joining them in the study of the Word as they dive into the upcoming Sunday’s readings. Contact the office if you are interested in joining.
Council and Committees
Learning Committee
The Learning Committee is committed to “assisting the congregation in realizing its nature and mission in the area of learning.” They work to organize the Sunday Adult Classes that meet at 9:15 am, as well as oversee the Sunday School program, the Splash program (for parents of newly baptised children), the Friendship Club ministry, youth programs, confirmation, men’s Bible study and Letio Divina.
Witnessing Committee
The Witnessing Committee seeks to share Jesus Christ with all people by promoting outreach to others. These ministries include working with the Camrose Refugee Centre and Messiah’s Refugee Committee, encouraging support for world mission, organizing the pictorial directory, and many hospitality events; these include monthly potlucks, Sunday and Wednesday morning coffee fellowships.
Service Committee
The Service Committee plays a vital role in helping the congregation fulfill its purpose and mission through acts of service.
The committee supports a range of initiatives led by Messiah members. These include projects within the church by Creation Care, The Care Group, Canadian Lutheran World Relief, and Congregational Connections; as well as outreach into our community through Martha's Table, Meals on Wheels, Neighbor Aid, and Camrose & District Family and Community Support Services..
Our aim is to foster fellowship and connection among our members, and encourage them to live out a life of service, reflecting Christ’s love and compassion to others.
Support Committee
The Support Committee is responsible for the physical maintenance of Messiah’s buildings, security, insurance, utilities contracts including elevator, yard maintenance, renovations, equipment upgrades and purchases, and offering counters. The Wednesday workers meet each week to take care of projects around the church, and work with the custodian to keep everything in tip-top shape.
Worship and Music Committee
The Worship and Music Committee makes provision for the in-person and online development, coordination, supervision, and evaluation of the worship and music programs of the congregation. It is responsible for the nurturing of faith through the celebration of baptism, communion and regular worship. The Committee also encourages personal devotional life through a variety of opportunities and publications. Other responsibilities are arranging for chancel care and ensuring that there are communion preparers and servers, lectors, greeters, ushers, and audio and video technicians available for Sunday services.
