Our Core Values and Biblical References
Our Core Values reflect our reliance on the Word of God. Here is a sampling of how those values are shaped by what we have learned from the Bible.
God loves everyone.
John 3:16, "For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life.
1 John 11, Beloved, since God loved us so much, we also ought to love one another.
Jesus is Lord.
Acts 10:36, You know the message he sent to the people of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ he is Lord of all.
Romans 10:9, ... if you confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
2 Corinthians 4:5, For we do not proclaim ourselves; we proclaim Jesus Christ as Lord and ourselves as your slaves for Jesus' sake.
Philippians 2:9-11, Therefore God also highly exalted him and gave him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bend, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
We seek to be led by the Holy Spirit.
Romans 8:14, For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God.
1 Corinthians 12:3b, no one can say "Jesus is Lord" except by the Holy Spirit.
We rely fully on the Word of God.
Deuteronomy 8:3, He humbled you by letting you hunger, then by feeding you with manna, with which neither you nor your ancestors were acquainted, in order to make you understand that one does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD.
Proverbs 30:5, Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.
Isaiah 40:8, The grass withers, the flower fades; but the word of our God will stand forever.
Romans 15:4, For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, so that by steadfastness and by the encouragement of the scriptures we might have hope.
2 Timothy 3:16-17, All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that everyone who belongs to God may be proficient, equipped for every good work.
God gives everyone gifts to share.
Psalm 76:11, Make vows to the LORD your God, and perform them; let all who are around him bring gifts
Romans 12:6-8, We have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us: prophecy, in proportion to faith; ministry, in ministering; the teacher, in teaching; the exhorter, in exhortation; the giver, in generosity; the leader, in diligence; the compassionate, in cheerfulness.
1 Corinthians 2:12, Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit that is from God, so that we may understand the gifts bestowed on us by God.
